LeJour Chronograph

The LeJour

This is one of many chronographs based on the Valjoux 7750 movement. There are close similarities between this and some of the others. For one, the Orfina Porsche Design chrono is very similar, also using the same movement. (The Orfina used the Valjoux through the 70's and switched to Lemania 5100.) Also check out the Sinn GMT for the same movement and case design, years later. On this LeJour, there's a screw-down back from Orfina. Go figure.

This watch existed as early as 1970. The original bracelet was black-treated steel, though I've made a new strap using black nylon with aluminum hardware - Very comfortable and indestructible.

The brand LeJour is marked only on the dial. While the buttons are round they do not rotate. The case is steel, the black color is from a coating. The crystal appears to be mineral glass, and the back is solid stainless.

The Valjoux

The Valjoux rotor still sounds the same after more than 20 years - there's a telltale rumbling from the rotor bearing. But it's still the trusty old Valjoux - no complaints. This one has 17 jewels (I'm used to seeing the configuration with 25), and at least one nylon part. I've only seen one other 7750 so far with 17 jewels, that on a recent Hamilton Chronomatic.
